Burnout, how to deal with it!

With this post, I wanted to share my experience of burnout and some tips to combat it. Burnout is widespread in all areas, but I think that it can be quite an issue for people working in marketing and mainly digital marketing. Digital marketing is constantly changing, so you have to stay updated.

I suffered burnout in the first semester of my masters, and I felt more unmotivated to do work, and the quality of the work I was doing was a lot worse than my everyday work. At first, I was trying to push through it, but this didn't work, so I tried a few of these tips bellow

Spend time with friends

One way to get over burnout is to close the laptop and turn on that automatic reply and just get out to see your friends and spend time to yourself.

Get to the gym

This one helped me get to the gym early, and getting a workout down was the best way to relieve stress it also made me healthier, so this was a double positive!

Talk to people

I found speaking to people and talking about the issues I may be having helpful. It made me open about what I was struggling with, and they gave me lots of good advice to get over it.

We need to understand that burnout is something not to push through. If you ever feel this way, step back and take the time you need. This will make the content you create more substantial and happier. Win win in my books! Working in marketing and studying marketing is constantly learning and changing processes, and I'm so glad I've learnt this now and not later. So let me know if you've ever struggled with this in the comment!
